Select Baseball for ages 8U - 14U
The Colleyville Baseball Association sanctions several select, skill based 08U to 14U AA, AAA, Majors and High School youth baseball programs. Should you choose to try out for a select team, the commitment should not be taken lightly. The select program is organized under USSSA rules and each player accepted on a Colleyville Select team is registered with USSSA. League play for the select programs are played in the Texas Elite Baseball Association (TEBA). TEBA games are played in a weekly double header game format against other area TEBA Select teams. For the Fall and Spring Season the head coach can choose an 8 to 14 game season.
This is a serious commitment of time, energy, and money for the selected players/parents. Select baseball is NOT an equal play program, however, our coaches goals are to develop all players and will play the kids accordingly. It is a place for those who choose to play a higher level of baseball. Players are "selected" by the team coach based on skill and ability. Team coaches for the select programs are appointed by the Colleyville Baseball Association Board of Directors, and are re-evaluated every season.
Most select teams begin practice in January for Spring and August for Fall. They play games from February through July in Spring and August through December in the Fall. They play numerous games throughout the season that far exceed a rec program, and play numerous USSSA, Travel Sports, and other sanctioned tournaments both locally and remotely. This may include other states as well as tournaments that start on Thursday evenings and may run through a Monday evening. (Including Sunday mornings and evenings).
Select High School Baseball
CBA offers UHS, a league for players in high school, and have at least 3-5 years’ prior experience. The team is for boys with varying baseball skills who want to play additional repetition, games, practices, and tournaments. This can integrate with their obligations to their High School team, or is for those who want to continue playing beyond 14U. There is 1 practice a week at Colleyville City Park. Games are Saturday or Sunday and 1 double header in Colleyville or a local city within 30 miles.
Because of the large number of High School participants in the last few seasons, coaches will hold tryout for the High School team.

Because of the large number of players the last few seasons, coaches have decided to have a tryout to split the teams. The top 12 players will make the Senior Roster and the remaining players will make the JV Roster. If we can find a third coach, we could offer a third team. The benefit to expanding the teams is it will give each player more time on the field (game time). Giving each player who made the team a sense of ownership and the exchange of energy and value on money paid to the league.
After a player completes the tryouts and has been evaluated appropriately, he will be assigned to a team. Our big challenge is finding at least one more head coach possibly two. As we get closer to the season, we might have the coaching positions filled. If you know anyone interested, please let us know. We believe the tryouts and smaller roster will be in the best interest to the players, coaches, and parents of this league.
